The Team

Diane Tober--Producer and Director--received her doctorate in Medical Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000. She has conducted extensive research in topics related to bioethics, reproductive technologies and the body, in both the United States and the Middle East. Her research includes work on the sperm-banking industry, investigating issues surrounding access to reproductive technologies and how lay perceptions of genetics influence donor choice; kidney sales in Islamic Republic of Iran; and the politics of family planning promotion and use among Afghan refugees and low-income Iranians in Iran. She has published in scholarly journals and popular media, and been interviewed on television, radio and in print outlets.  In addition to this documentary,  she also Produced, Directed, and Edited Bracing for Life, With GNE Myopathy, a film about a rare genetic disease and the challenges facing people who have it. Diane is also conducting research on egg provider decisions and experiences at University of California, San Francisco, where she serves as Assistant Adjunct Professor. For this work she is collaborating with We Are Egg Donors—the world’s first self-advocacy group for egg donors--as well as Global Egg Donors and UCSF Women's Health Center.

Ricardo Martin--Director of Photography and Director--Originally from Los Angeles, now living in the Bay Area, Ricardo has nearly 20 years experience as a photojournalist for major news networks. He has received numerous awards for his work, including: Kern County Press Association Awards for “Best News Feature Film” (1997, 1999) and “Best Spot News” (1999), for stories he produced, filmed and edited. He has also worked on editing, producing and as DP for commercials and independent films in Los Angeles and at University of Southern California, film school. He is currently working on two documentaries: The Perfect Donor and Different By Design: The Lives of Dyslexic Adults. He also has a short, independent science fiction film, called Transport, in the works. Aside from his work in film and photojournalism, he is an artist and photographer, with a passion to tell the human story. He brings a unique journalistic eye as Director of Photography to documentary film. 

 

 

 

 

 

Kevin Keith--Composer/Sound Designer--With a degree in electrical engineering, and a passion for music, Keith was primed for a career in the recording arts. While comparatively few people have witnessed his virtuosity on the Chapman Stick, nearly anybody exposed to popular culture within the last ten years has probably heard his work. A composer for Warner Bros. Television and Universal Music Group, Keith has written music for more than 50 national shows, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tyra, The People’s Court, and The Bachelor. His work can be heard on MTV, VH1, ABC, CBS, and NBC, as well as on History and The Discovery Channel. Keith’s list of audio-engineering credits is as impressive as his television career. He has been trusted to mix live television performances by such major acts as Taylor Swift, Nelly Furtado, Seal, Lionel Richie, Outkast, and Ziggy Marley. Aside from his work at Youtube Space Los Angeles and UMG a/c Warner-Barham Music, Keith also works as a freelance audio engineer. 

Hunter Durnford--Social Media Intern--currently attending college to study computer science, Hunter has a knack for social networking and outreach. A former intern for Verite T.V., he now brings his talent to The Perfect Donor, to build our following on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social networking sites popular among college students.
